The
South Australian Crane Association
provides representation to Government Minsters and Government departments,
eg Department of Administrative & Information Services, Department of
Transport, Workplace Services etc The
Association provides guidance and training on Australian Standards, and
Occupational Health and Safety in the Crane Industry. Members are kept up to date with the current regulations and policy requirements as they apply to the Industry. The Association is an excellent networking forum for operators in the Industry with regular meetings and training activities. The
Association provides crane
safety manuals and maintenance log books to member companies at discounted
rates. Another member benefit,
now available (No Charge) are two computer training disks, “ How to
Read Crane Load Charts” - an interactive training aid, and “Crane Operator Training Needs Assessment
Templates” Association
members have the opportunity to join Business SA and get assistance with
matters such as WorkCover, Industrial Relations and Occupational Health
& Safety, Staff Training and Employer Issues. In conjunction with the National body the Association is introducing “CraneSafe” an independent crane inspection system and accreditation regime for crane owners and operators. Last
year the Association conducted “free of charge” a series of Crane
Operator Safety Training Sessions, recommended to all Crane
Operators/Drivers/Riggers. The
Crane Industry Council of Australia (CICA)
is lobbying the National Road Transport Commission and State Road &
Traffic Authorities for the easing of permits etc.
CICA
is
the recognised Crane Industry body with the Australian Customs Service and
are playing a key roll in "fair play" of imported second hand
cranes and other customs/duty matters.
